A Carpet Quote can only follow a significant amount of work. It
is necessary to measure exactly. Too much carpet means waste and too little
carpet means an embarrassing gap. Don’t think either that the gap can be easily
filled. Carpet is made in batches so the color may not match; carpet is cut of
in one metre lengths making the minimum area either 4 or 5 square metres. It is
best to do it right, involving a professional fitter if necessary.
A carpet quote can only follow and extensive investigation of carpet types,
designs, colour and various methods of manufacture. Go to a good carpet shop or
web site and ensure that you are able to see all the options.
Of course the carpet quote may be to a budget. A good carpet salesman will
recognize this and still attempt to deliver value. Beware of carpet sales people
that will attempt to hit the price point but will not be around to support the
product when it is clearly not fit for purpose.
Finally a good carpet quote by Woody Allen. “What if everything is an illusion
and nothing exists? In that case, I definitely overpaid for my carpet.”
Luxury Carpet comes in many varieties and forms. One of the most
expensive carpets in the UK is wool Axminster. This is carefully made from fine
wool, crafted on traditional weaving looms and in a beautiful variety of opulent
and rich designs in many colours maybe using original Chinese and Persian
designs.
Carpet is typically made in widths of 4 metres or 5 metres. If a room is longer
or wider than 5 metres in both directions then it will require two pieces of
carpet joined together with a seam. Some people will see a luxury carpet as not
having a seam and therefore willing to buy carpet made on a non mass production
process that can cover dimensions of up to 7 metres without a seam.
Luxury carpet can also be a function of the density and length of the pile.
Luxury tufted manufacturers will use high quality fine yarns but will
manufacture the carpet on a fine gauge tufting machine that will allow a higher
number of individual yarn insertions per square inch.
Another way of defining a luxury carpet is of the source of the yarn. Darker
yarns say from South European sheep will be cheaper but unable to be dyed into
pastel shades. Yarn from New Zealand is of a high quality being of a light
colour and a fine count and therefore capable of being dyed to intense pastel
colours and shades.
Some manufacturers being so confident of their dyeing abilities will allow a
customer to send them a scrap of say curtain material and they will return a
sample pom dyed to the exact shade. Upon approval the customer can then be
supplied with luxury carpet to the exact colour of their desire.
