Carpet Offcuts are the product of the carpet stocking process.
A manufactured roll of carpet will be typically 25 metres long and either 4
metres or 5 metres wide
Sometimes the roll will be used for one customer as they carpet their 1,500
square metre house leaving no carpet offcuts.
However, if there are a number of customers requirements cut from full rolls all
looking at around say around 20/25 square metres each then carpet offcuts will
be left.
If a stockist has a number of rolls in stock to choose from they will optimize
their cutting plans in order to minimize the number and size of remaining carpet
offcuts due to the fact that they have to be jobbed off at a reduced price.
For the customer however, if the carpet offcuts are exactly the quality and
colour that the customer requires then they represent amazing value often being
retailed at less than half price.
If the carpet offcuts are not of the right quality and colour or do not fit the
room in question and significant wastage is involved then of course the value
saving is not as great and the customer may be better advised to buy at the full
price.
